90 years with a forward-looking view

During 2006 I.M Skaugen celebrated the 90th anniversary of the creation of the company. In the years since Isak Martinius Skaugen formed the company we have moved from sailing ships to a fleet of modern gas and oil tankers, servicing customers across the world - and weaving the company’s history into the fabric of both the Norwegian and international shipping industries.

As you would expect of a global marine transportation company, our own history is closely entwined with the major social and political events that have shaped the 20th century and beyond. From wars and refugees to cruise liners and the growth of international trade, we have constantly adapted to meet new circumstances.

During all this time we have worked hard to continually adapt and improve the way we do business so we can better serve our stakeholders - whether customers, partners, shareholders or employees.

As we develop our operations into the 21st century, we believe the outlook for the company is one of growth, new opportunities and continued profitablilty. A colourful past is leading us into an exciting future.
