Background and history

  • In July 2007 Lyse and IM Skaugen decided to go ahead with their JV - Nordic LNG.
  • Lyse and their partners will build, own and operate the LNG plant
  • IM Skaugen will build, own and operate the ships needed for transport
  • Nordic LNG is responsible for the marketing, sales of LNG to the end users.
  • Nordic LNG is responsible for the logistics of LNG, incl. terminals, land based transport as well as local storage at end-users
  • On target for a fully operational service in 2010 and well positioned to become the market leader in Scandinavia

The Nordic LNG concept includes the active development and involvement in the whole energy supply chain, including liquefaction, transport and the sale of LNG as energy and directly to the end-users.

The Plant

  • Located outside Stavanger, Norway
  • Capacity 300.000 tpy with possibility to extend to 600.000 tpy
  • Gas from NCS via Lyse Gass own pipeline.
  • A first feed-gas contract with Shell for 200M Sm3/year
  • EPC contract with Linde Engineering
  • Storage tank of 30.000 cbm LNG
  • Low specific power consumption due to high feed-gas pressure
  • “Boil-off” gas to be fed into local pipeline grid – marginal flaring only
  • Start-up Q2 2010
