  1. Transportation of petrochemical gases, LPG and LNG

  2. Marine transfer of crude oil and LNG

  3. The design and construction of smaller and specialised high quality marine vessels

The parent company, I.M. Skaugen ASA was on 20 December 2007 merged with its wholly owned Danish subsidiary I.M. Skaugen A/S, thereby transforming I.M. Skaugen ASA from a Norwegian Joint Stock Public Company (ASA) to a European Joint Stock Public Company (Societas Europea, hereafter called "SE-Company").

The new official name is I.M. Skaugen SE. There was no issue of new shares. The company is incorporated and domiciled in Norway.
The address of its registered office is Karenslyst Allè 8B, 0278 Oslo, Norway.

The company’s core marine transportation activities operate under the brand names NORGAS and SPT Skaugen PetroTrans.

Its customers are major international companies in the oil and petrochemical industry, whom we serve worldwide with a multicultural team of professionals, located in Bahrain, Freeport and Houston (USA), Oslo and Stavanger (Norway), Singapore, Sunderland (UK) and Nanjing, Shanghai, Taizhou, Zhangjiagang and Wuhan (China).

IMS employs approximately 1,800 people and currently operates some 37 vessels worldwide.

The fleet comprises

  • petrochemical gas
  • LPG and LNG carriers
  • Aframax tankers and lightering support vessels
  • barges and tugs

IMS operates recruitment and training facilities in St. Petersburg (Russia) and Wuhan (China) for the crewing of vessels.

We believe that in a global environment, the successful companies are those that can put together a multicultural team of people with the best knowledge and highest enthusiasm - wherever they can find them, anywhere in the world. Our teams - shore-side and seafaring - work round-the-clock to serve our customers, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

IMS has a comprehensive new-building program in China for

  • three 3,200cbm LPG vessels;
  • three purpose designed combination carriers with LPG/Ethylene/VCM and Organic chemicals carrying capability
  • and up to ten advanced 10,000-12,000cbm LNG/LPG/Ethylene gas carriers

for delivery from beginning 2007 and onwards. Six new purpose-designed and built Aframax-sized tankers were delivered to SPT in 2007/2008 on long term bareboat charters.

The Company also undertakes investments in China to develop its “Cost and Service leadership strategy” and to develop core competence in carrying out business in China. The Group undertakes industry-leading recruitment and training programs for seafarers through its training centers in China. These centers are crucial in order to secure a long-term supply base of well-trained officers and crew for its fleet.

While IMS concentrates on delivering high quality cost-competitive transportation services to its customers, a foundation in all its operations, afloat and ashore, is its focus on safety, health and environmental protection in order to safeguard its employees and all others depending on or being influenced by it’s activities, including mother nature.
